I liked that we got to network with other students I may not have met otherwise and that we got out in the field and shot things. I would not have felt confident enough to accept my first freelance job without having all the experience I gained from the internship.
What I wish was different
I wish I had come up with my project idea sooner so I could have expanded on it more.
Advice
Come with lots of ideas and fill your time wisely. This is an internship where you have a lot of opportunity to work on your own project, so definitely use that to your advantage.

Media Intern
June - October 2018 • Pittsburgh, PA
What I liked
From day one I was able to hold a camera and edit footage. This is a very hands-on internship that is great for portfolio building wether that's as a videographer, editor, or journalist.
What I wish was different
I wish I had done more research on the city of Pittsburgh. The time is what you make of it and supervisors were always willing to shoot stories on events or people you were interested in.
Advice
Learn as much as you can from your supervisors and fellow interns. Asking questions always lead to meaningful conversations, wether they were about real-time projects or future career advice.
