Medical Assistant

Medical Assistant (Pediatric Cardiology Outpatient, Part-time)

We are looking for an intelligent highly motivated candidate with great interpersonal skills and who loves learning and working with families. On-the-job training is provided for the right candidate even if you currently lack significant experience.


Responsibilities:
1.  Prepare chart for visit upload insurance information, cards, referrals, medical record documents, labs, place orders for necessary testing based on spread sheet. This
task will require calling the patient parents to determine the reason for the visit and calling the primary care office to have them fax records.
2.  Informing parents about their deductibles and copays prior to the visit 
3.  Assist healthcare providers with patient examinations and procedures like stress test
4.  Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies
5.   Collect co-pay and deductibles. 

6. Take patient vital signs, record medical
history, and update patient information in electronic health records
7.  Perform basic tests, such as 12 lead EKG and placing event monitors (training provided)
8.  Schedule patient appointments and manage patient flow in the clinic during office hours
9.  Assist in marketing and growing the practice obtaining reviews, developing connections with community providers


Qualifications:
- Certified Medical Assistant or Premed student planning for a GAP year after completing undergraduate or graduate program
- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems (this will be provided during training phase)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
 

Important other qualifications: Candidate must be able to commit to the job for 1 year and work as an independent contractor. Candidate should be willing to train predecessor prior to end of 1 year agreement.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20-25 per week
 

Benefits:
1. Transportation stipend ($25 per in-person workday if you drive your own car). Ride sharing may be available for travel if driving is not an option for you

Schedule:
Work Location and hours (vary):
In person - Tuesday and Thursday 10am 7pm; 4110 John F Kennedy Blvd. Union City NJ.07087
Remote- Mon, Wed, Saturday (~2hrs per day, you build your own flexible schedule)


What Great Work looks like:
1. Prepare a chart for visit no later than 3 days prior to the visit. Including informing parents about their copay or deductible during that pre-visit call.


2. Collect 100% of all the copays and deductibles before putting the patient in the room 


3. Offers assistance to healthcare provider, without prompting, and anticipate what may be
needed for the next patient based on prior observation of provider practices, and reason for the visit.


4. Clean and disinfect the used equipment and the exam table, ultrasound probes (CAVi for 
 

5. Collects accurate patient vital signs, record medical history, medications and allergies and update patient information in electronic health records


6. Perform an accurate 12-lead EKG and event monitor placement (training provided)


7. Schedule patient appointments to fill the appointment slots for each clinic based on office protocols

8. Manage patient flow in the clinic. 


9. Assist in marketing and growing the practice obtaining reviews, developing connections with the community referring providers
