Accounting Specialist

Our mission is to provide quality, individualized, community-based support and training in employment, housing, community living, and financial management services.
Key Responsibilities
In our team-based environment, you will
- Prepare and submit billings to various customers, apply payments, research and follow up on unpaid balances, and issue credits, refunds, and billing corrections as needed.
- Perform bank and credit card statement reconciliations.
- Set up new vendors, verify vendor credentials, enter vendor invoices, and process vendor payments via credit card, ACH, or check as needed.
- Use a variety of tools and databases to process transactions, including QuickBooks Online, Excel, and others.
- Assist in developing and maintaining accounting procedures.
- Lead a variety of special projects related to agency and financial programs; participate in and promote quality assurance activities.
- Conduct all business activities in accordance with widely recognized ethical standards; ensure confidentiality is not breached regarding financial, accounting, personnel, participant, and all other propriety information; work to reduce the agency's vulnerability to waste, fraud, and abuse; comply with all safe work practices.

Success Factors
The successful candidate will have:
- At least two years of experience performing accounting, finance, and business tasks, such as entering financial transactions in QuickBooks Online, analyzing data in Excel, and performing billing and accounts receivable functions. A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or finance is strongly preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work well with others in a team environment.
- Flexibility and adaptability to change.
- The ability to solve complex problems and make sound decisions.
- Strong organizational skills and experience processing a high volume of financial transactions quickly and accurately.
- Dependability, reliability, and ability to follow through on commitments.
