Intern, Publicity and Social Media

Three Rooms Press is a fiercely independent New York-based literary publisher inspired by diversity, dada, punk and passion. We seek an intern to work with us on publicity, social media, and newsletter editing. 

Essential Skills:

Excellent writing skills, passionate interest in books, social media expertise

Job Duties:

  • Publicity: 
    • Create press releases for books and events
    • Create lists and contact reviewers, broadcast media, podcasters, influencers and journalists to book author appearances, set up interviews and feature articles, and arrange for reviews.
  • Social Media:
    • Create stories, reels and posts on Instagram and TikTok to promote our books and events
    • Develop ideas to increase social media engagement. NOTEL You should be comfortable sharing post images and reels that include you sharing your passion for books.
  • Newsletter Editor
    • Working with team, develop list of content for monthly newsletter
    • Write articles, interview authors, create simple banner graphics
    • Assemble newsletter in MailChimp
  • Additional Duties
    • Envelope stuffing. Don't worry—we all help!
    • Photos of books and book-related topics
    • Proofreading and copy editing

Hours and Stipend:

  • This position is part-time, a total of 8-10 hours a week, including (required)  onsite work at TRP headquarters in Greenwich Village one day a week (Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday)  from 10 am - 2 pm
  • We offer a stipend of $400 per month for this internship. Please note: this is not an hourly wage. Most internships in the book publishing field are unpaid. We believe that some compensation is due our interns, so we offer this stipend.

Qualifications:

  • Undergrads, preferable in junior or senior year, or grad students
  • Prefer English, Creative Writing, Communications, or Journalism majors
  • Avid reader preferred
  • Positive attitude a must
  • Interest in dada art and writing a plus
