Product Designer

Position: Product Designer (Instrument Cases, Mutes, and Accessories)

Company: The Musicians Club

Location: Remote

Hours: 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM, NYC Time, Monday to Friday

Compensation: Unpaid Internship

Eligibility: Open to highly skilled students and recent graduates with expertise in 3D product design and access to design tools


 

Role Overview


 

The Musicians Club is assembling a Product Design Team to develop high-quality, innovative designs for instrument cases, mutes, and other music accessories. We are looking for dedicated professionals who can bring advanced 3D design skills, precision, and creativity to create top-tier products. This is a highly demanding, fast-paced role for those ready to contribute to an ambitious, successful team focused on building the best music accessories on the market.


 

Key Responsibilities


 

1. 3D Product Design and Prototyping:

• Develop 3D models for a range of products, including instrument cases, mutes, and related accessories, ensuring functionality, durability, and aesthetics.

• Create detailed product renders and prototypes, incorporating feedback to refine designs and meet exact specifications.

• Use advanced 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino) to produce precise, professional-grade models ready for manufacturing.

2. Material and Structural Innovation:

• Research and recommend high-quality materials suited to the demands of instrument protection and acoustic performance.

• Innovate structural elements to enhance product strength, durability, and usability, focusing on making products lightweight and portable.

• Develop custom inserts, padding, and accessories to ensure instrument safety and usability across a variety of cases and designs.

3. Collaboration and Team Coordination:

• Collaborate closely with other design team members, engineers, and product managers to ensure all designs align with The Musicians Club’s brand and quality standards.

• Attend daily meetings, sharing progress updates, discussing challenges, and aligning on design adjustments.

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other team members, contributing to a highly productive, motivated team environment.

4. Quality Control and Detail Orientation:

• Ensure all designs meet the highest standards of accuracy, detail, and quality, conducting thorough checks on every model before submitting for review.

• Regularly test and evaluate prototypes, making adjustments as needed to meet performance, aesthetic, and functional criteria.

• Maintain meticulous records and documentation for each design, detailing materials, specifications, and testing results.

5. Product Development and Market Research:

• Conduct market research on competitor products, keeping up with industry trends and innovations in instrument case design and accessories.

• Propose and develop unique product features that set The Musicians Club’s accessories apart in the marketplace.

• Continuously refine design concepts based on user feedback, testing insights, and emerging material and manufacturing techniques.


 

Requirements


 

• Proficiency in 3D design software (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360, Rhino) and access to all necessary design tools.

• Experience in product design, with a portfolio demonstrating expertise in cases, mutes, or similar accessory design.

• Strong understanding of materials and structural design, with a focus on durability and acoustic performance.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal guidance.

• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment, delivering top-quality designs to tight deadlines.
