Child Life Specialist

Boston Children’s Hospital, a world-renowned leader in pediatric clinical care, is currently searching for Child Life Specialists across departments and locations including Weymouth and Waltham.

 

Child Life Specialists will:

  • Enhance patients’ emotional, social, and cognitive growth during a hospital visit, taking into consideration each child’s family, culture, and developmental needs.
  • Participate in therapeutic activities and programs to meet patients’ psychosocial and developmental needs, and facilitate adjustment to health care experiences.
  • Serve as member of multidisciplinary team.
  • Delegate work assignments to volunteers and participate in clinical training of student interns.

 

To qualify, you must have:

  • BA degree in Child Development, Child Life, or a closely related field with a concentration in Child Life.
  • Completion of 600-hour Child Life internship under the supervision of a Certified Child Life Specialist.
  • General skills to resolve problems requiring the use of child development theory, professional child life principles, and experienced‑based knowledge.
  • Well-developed writing skills, and excellent communication skills including conflict resolution to effectively work as a team member.
  • Child Life Certification is required within one year of hire
