Electrical Engineering Technician

Apply trades skills of the highest complexity to plan, layout, and perform assignments requiring considerable skills involving complex diagnostics in the electronics craft.

This position will be based out of Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s (the “Company”) corporate headquarters in Greensboro, NC; supporting the global operations function of Gilbarco, North America.

 

Key Responsibilities 

  •  Install, maintain, and repair test equipment for printed circuit board assemblies such as power supplies, displays, motherboards, etc.; prepare wiring diagrams as necessary to facilitate rework after installation, for permanent records, and for changes necessitated during repair.
  • Perform functional testing on various Gilbarco Veeder-Root printed circuit board assemblies.
  • Troubleshoot printed circuit boards down to the component level.
  • Determine extent and cause of failure. Diagnose and remedy unusual troubles in regular and emergency situations; work involves a wide range of difficult operations requiring considerable skill and a thorough knowledge of analog and digital circuits.
  • Work with the Quality Department to perform test equipment calibration/verification.
  • Maintain inventory of necessary repair and replacement parts, materials, and supplies for normal repair and maintenance requirements.
  • Assist other parts of the plant with emergency issues, such as reworking parts or building/modifying cables.
  • Use Gilbarco’s ERP system to process kanban.
  • Run reports to prioritize work for associates to ensure OTD.
  • Perform functions and/or observe all company regulations and policies pertaining to safety, housekeeping, quality, ISO, team activities, record keeping, material handling, material safety data, inventory systems, and preventive maintenance.
  • Effectively communicate with peer groups, engineers, team members, managers, and customers.

Background and Skills

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
  • Verifiable evidence of ability to apply a high level of tradesman skills in the applicable craft; experience with soldering equipment such as soldering irons, hot air reflow, desoldering gun, microscope.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in use of hand tools, gauges, and bar coding and measuring instruments such as DMM and Oscilloscope.
  • Ability to understand and interpret electrical schematics and BOMs.

Technical Skills 

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in electronics.
  • Basic knowledge of communication interfaces.
  • Candidate having an embedded course certification is an added advantage.
  • Basic knowledge of Microcontrollers & Microprocessors.
  • Candidate should have basic understanding of LV Electrical systems.
  • Familiar with Microsoft office tools
