Deputy Content Director

Job Title: Deputy Content Director
Reports to: Content and Mobilization Director
Salary: $7,000/month, generous benefits package
Location: Madison or Milwaukee, WI (Please note: Employment with the Democratic Party of Wisconsin requires residence or willingness to relocate to the state of Wisconsin.)
Start date: June 2024

The Opportunity: As a Deputy Content Director, you will lead the Wisconsin Coordinated Campaign’s social media presence. Your team will own the content and back-end of our social media accounts and will be asked to leverage those channels to persuade voters and cultivate a network of volunteers. You’ll work closely with the Deputy Mobilization Director and other partners to ensure consistency in our digital content.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee the social media production process from start to finish, including calendaring, fielding incoming requests, approvals, scheduling, and reporting. 
  • Maintain and update an internal content calendar for all owned social media channels, updating regularly to accommodate requests from other departments.
  • Establish reporting norms and leverage data to make informed strategy choices regarding content and platforms. 
  • Manage approvals for internal content streams, upholding the campaign’s high standards for visual and written content. Deliver feedback to junior staff to help them improve and grow as content strategists. 
  • Manage a team to execute the campaign’s social media strategy. Oversee direct reports in all aspects of their work, creating an inclusive and engaging team culture. More specific tasks could include but are not limited to:
    • Managing and reviewing time off requests
    • Hiring new team members
    • Having constructive conversations with team members on performance
    • Building rapport and trust within your team
    • Leading projects and delegating tasks
  • On year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.

Qualifications (Preferred):

  • Three years of political experience.
  • Fiercely Collaborative - Eager to work across departments and levels of seniority to accomplish campaign goals. Continuously seeks opportunities to partner with other teams and leverage our social platforms to accomplish broader campaign goals. 
  • Organizing Know-How - Has experience converting social media engagement into real-world action; knows how to move followers up the ladder of engagement.
  • Excellent Organization Skills – Can track a high volume of work through different stages of approvals and knows when to intervene to keep deliverables on track.
  • Demonstrated experience producing content for or organizing within communities of diverse backgrounds.
