Venture Capital and Marketing Associate Intern

Are you a creative and self-motivated problem solver looking to gain hands-on experience working on a variety of projects in an exciting field?

 

We are seeking a venture capital and market research associate intern to join us at Onki, a robotics startup dedicated to creating the most human-centric robots, designed to understand, react to, and support the complex spectrum of human needs and emotions in public spaces.

 

You will work closely with the founding team, which includes former senior managers from top-tier strategy consulting firms, top-tier tech/e-commerce companies, and unicorn startups.
 

The internship has the following objectives:

  • Provide interns an opportunity to learn, practice, and grow business analysis skills
  • Help us to build a systematic/quantifiable understanding of our customer segment  through research and customer feedback
  • In-depth research of the American venture capital landscape to identify best fitting potential investors.
  • Organizing and managing efforts to systematically reach out to potential customers and VC investors

 

Over the course of the internship, your work will likely cover many of the following areas:

  • Learn VC research tools and conduct comprehensive research, including th niche and thesis of each investor
  • Organize and keep track of VC outreach and progression
  • Market segment analysis (Who are the potential customers? What’s the industry/need? What's the size of the segments?)
  • What features do the segment value the most? What can Onki bring to the table that would be most valuable to the segment
  • Segment purchasing process and behavior analysis (e.g. how is a purchasing decision made? who are the decision makers)
  • How do we reach the customer segment? (How do we influence the buying decision? what type of advertising/media can help us reach potential customers?)
  • What's the best marketing format and message for the target segment?
  • Evaluate the efficiency of our marketing approaches/performance evaluation (cost/effort level vs. results, what's the ROI/ROAS)
  • Business development (Outreach to potential buyers and business partners via phone and email)
  • Media development (Outreach to potential advertising/promotion partners, including social media influencers)
  • Production of marketing campaign (Email/ad copywriting/scriptwriting, image editing, media coordination)
  • Onsite content and product information production and management (Create attractive and relevant content and product description, copy/image/video for our site)
  • Act as a Brand Ambassador to help promote our product and provide support at events
  • Supporting the Executives with admin tasks as needed

 

you should be a very talented self-starter, an open-minded risk-taker, a quick learner with a strong interest in marketing and e-commerce, well organized, have an appreciation for good aesthetics, a strong desire to produce high-quality work, and highly motivated to learn all things related to e-commerce and marketing.

 

Basic requirements:

  • Adaptable, flexible, and highly motivated self-starter
  • Curious and always hungry for learning
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to details
  • Good English business communication and copywriting skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Highly proficient in MS Office/Excel
  • Skills in Photoshop, social media management, influencer campaigns, and e-commerce operations are a plus.

The program requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours weekly (up to a full-time role based on availability, for a minimum period of 12 weeks starting in early June.   Flexible start date and work hours, with the possibility of extension. We are based in NYC but we are open to working with students joining remotely from other locations in the US. 

 

You will have the opportunity to practice many aspects of business analysis and marketing. You will also learn strategic problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and the mentality of large tech/e-commerce businesses.

 

The internship will prepare you for a greater role in our small and rapidly growing company. Alternatively, if your career objective is to pursue top-tier consulting/big tech/startup/VC, the internship will allow you to learn skills that will make you a more attractive candidate. In addition, if you excelled during the internship, we are happy to use our professional network to provide a good recommendation to the consulting/big tech/startups where we have good connections (or any of your potential future employers).
