Itty-Bitty Physics Program Leader

Objectives of This Role:

As a Program Leader for STEM, Discovery Lab, or Itty Bitty Physics, your objective is to create dynamic and hands-on learning experiences that engage children in STEM concepts and principles. You'll facilitate interactive experiments, activities, and projects that encourage exploration, experimentation, and discovery.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement engaging STEM curriculum and activities that align with program objectives and educational standards.
  • Lead interactive experiments, demonstrations, and hands-on projects that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
  • Provide instruction, guidance, and support to participants as they explore STEM concepts and principles.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment where children feel empowered to ask questions, make observations, and share ideas.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during program activities


 

Itty Bitty Physics, an exciting journey through the wonders of science at Kid Explorer Club! Designed for our Kindergarten and 1st-grade explorers, this dynamic course ignites curiosity through hands-on experiments, exhilarating demonstrations, and interactive learning experiences.

Led by our team of visionary educators, Itty Bitty Physics introduces budding scientists to fundamental principles of physics in a fun and accessible way. From exploring the mysteries of gravity and motion to unraveling the secrets of light and sound, each session is a thrilling adventure into the world of science.

Through a blend of experimentation and play, our young explorers develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a deep appreciation for the wonders of the universe. Join us at Kid Explorer Club’s Itty Bitty Physics course, where the journey to scientific discovery begins!

 

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan and facilitate engaging and interactive Itty Bitty Physics sessions for Kindergarten and 1st-grade students, following the provided curriculum and class description.
  2. Prepare materials, equipment, and resources necessary for hands-on experiments and demonstrations, ensuring a safe and organized learning environment.
  3. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel encouraged to explore, question, and learn.
  4. Adapt teaching strategies and activities to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of individual students, providing differentiated instruction as needed.
  5. Encourage curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking through thought-provoking discussions, problem-solving challenges, and collaborative activities.
  6. Assess student progress and comprehension through informal observation, class participation, and occasional quizzes or assessments.
  7. Communicate regularly with parents and caregivers to provide updates on student progress, upcoming topics, and opportunities for further exploration.
  8. Collaborate with other program leaders and staff members to integrate interdisciplinary themes and concepts into Itty Bitty Physics sessions, fostering connections with other subject areas and real-world applications.
  9. Maintain accurate records of attendance, student performance, and classroom materials, and assist with administrative tasks as needed.

 

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in education, science, or a related field.
  2. Previous experience working with young children in an educational or informal learning environment.
  3. Strong knowledge of basic physics principles and concepts, with a passion for making science accessible and engaging for young learners.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with children and build positive relationships.
  5. Creativity and flexibility in lesson planning and delivery, with the ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.
  6. Patience, empathy, and a nurturing demeanor, with a genuine love for working with children and fostering their curiosity and excitement for learning.

 

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Teaching certification or relevant training in early childhood education or elementary education.
  2. Experience developing and implementing hands-on science curriculum or enrichment programs for young children.
  3. Familiarity with inquiry-based learning approaches and constructivist teaching methods.
  4. Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices for conducting science experiments and demonstrations with young children.
