Information Services of Keck Medicine of USC seeks USC undergraduate and graduate interns to join our team during a time of tremendous growth. We seek high-energy, curious, and enthusiastic students who want to apply classroom learning in an exciting, challenging, professional setting.
An Information Services Internship spans the full spectrum of IT services with exciting opportunities across the department. While part of our team, you will gain practical experience and work as a contributing member of the department, working to improve operational and business efficiencies. You will refine your analytical/critical thinking and presentation skills and be required to develop work plans and deploy solutions to complex healthcare technology problems. You will gain new marketable skills for career entry while developing an understanding of the work environment and organizational structure of healthcare IT.
Students will assist in resolving data network issues through troubleshooting and maintaining LAN security. Implementing and providing support for server hardware and applications. Ensuring network efficiency and security throughout USC's Health Sciences campus.
Students will have the opportunity to work alongside professionals focusing on the following:
- Radiology [PACS, RIS, Dictation, 3D Visualization, Reporting]
- Cardiology [PACS, Structured Reporting, 3D Visualization]
- Gastroenterology [Image Capture, Structured Reporting]
- Neurophysiology [EEG Monitoring, Reporting]
- Radiation Oncology [EMR]
Projects may include, but are not limited to the following areas:
- Providing support to Radiology, Cardiology, Oncology, GI, and Neurophysiology departments
- Researching legacy applications while playing an integral role in upcoming data migration
Requirements:
- Student Workers are limited to 20 hours/week (40 hours/week while classes are not in session*) and must not have any other jobs at USC
- Work a minimum of 12 hours/week (20 hours/week while classes are not in session)
- Must graduate December 2025 or later
New hires must complete the following:
- TB test
- Drug screening
- Background check
*Preference will be given to those studying Biomedical Engineering.
As this is a 6-12 month position for USC students, the candidate must be enrolled in a USC program for the duration of the internship. Preference will be given to those studying law.
