PAID Podcast/Audio Production Intern (Social Justice WOW)

INTEGRITY INSTITUTE 

INTERNSHIP POSITION TITLE: Podcast/Audio Production Intern 

LOCATION: Remote and/or Brooklyn, NY 

REPORTS TO: Integrity Institute Member Leads (Podcast Hosts) 

STATUS: Full-time, hourly/exempt 

SUMMARY 

The Integrity Institute is a nonprofit organization that is run by — and a steward of — our community of integrity professionals. We are engineers, product managers, researchers, analysts, data scientists, operations specialists, policy experts and more, with decades of combined experience across numerous platforms. We have gathered to put our experience to use for the social good: to build a social internet where individuals, societies, and democracies can thrive. 

The Integrity Institute has 1-2 openings for a full-time summer intern to support the Institute’s podcast, Trust in Tech. This position provides an opportunity to work with and learn from a think tank and professional member community with national and global influence on the policy and practice of designing the social internet. 

THE ROLE 

This communications internship is an 8-12 week internship paid and administered through the Louis D. Brandeis Social Justice WOW Fellowship. This role requires an energetic, dedicated and detail-oriented person who can manage multiple tasks. This individual is a team-player with an entrepreneurial spirit, willingness to learn and ability to manage multiple tasks while adapting to shifting priorities. 

Depending on skillset, this individual will assist with communications tasks including, but not limited to: writing and editing, audio and video production and editing, web and social media analytics, social media content, graphic design, and other communications and administrative support tasks as assigned. 

Education: 

Ideal candidate is a recent graduate (graduated within the past year) or an undergraduate/graduate student in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, digital filmmaking, digital media, graphic design or a development-related field. 

Responsibilities: 

Applicants will provide support in the following areas. As no single applicant is likely to have all of the following skills, applicants with experience in at least 2-3 of these areas, and a willingness to expand their skillset should feel comfortable applying. 

Writing and Editing: 

  • Guest bios
  • Scripts, including intros and outros
  • Episode descriptions for social media
  • Podcast transcripts and related blog posts
  • Shownotes and SEO content
  • Marketing content for social channels
  • Interviewing
  • Copyediting

Audio, Video and Graphics: 

  • Maintain and manage podcast host sites, accounts, and podcast assets.
  • Edit and format multiple audio sources for social media and web.
  • Generate infographics, gifs, and animations.
  • Perform digital asset management.

Administrative Support:

  • Continuously iterate project management for the podcast
  • Create and send surveys for guests, and audience to get more feedback
  • Identify and research potential guests and/or topics for the podcast.
  • Assist with scheduling and coordinating of recording sessions.
  • Perform technology checks and provide guidance on recording best practices for guests.
  • Serve as a liaison between podcast hosts, guests, and Integrity Institute staff.
  • General administrative and communications support as assigned.
