PAID Recruitment Intern (Social Justice WOW)

Please note: The selected candidate will receive a $4,500 stipend funded by the Louis D. Brandeis Legacy Fund for Social Justice WOW. WOW program requirements will apply. For more information on WOW requirements, visit Hiatt's WOW Funding page.

Avodah develops lifelong social justice leaders whose work is informed by Jewish values and who inspire the Jewish community to work toward a more just and equitable world. Since 1998, we’ve been training emerging Jewish leaders to take on the most pressing social and economic issues in America. We believe that the combination of on-the-ground experience, intensive professional and personal development, and supportive, pluralistic Jewish community lay the groundwork for a lasting commitment to social change.

The Recruitment Intern will work with the recruitment team to support national recruitment work for our Service Corps and Justice Fellowship programs. The Jewish Service Corps is an immersive service year program for individuals ages 21-26 to spend a year working at a local non-profit while living and learning in a justice-oriented Jewish community. The Justice Fellowship is a part-time deep learning and community building program designed to advance the work of early- to mid- career Jewish social justice leaders.

The Recruitment Intern  will provide administrative support, as well as some communications support, to help our recruitment team spread the word about our programs, and recruit high-quality candidates. Interns will gain skills in database development, outreach, and research. Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Building and updating databases of academic, institutional, and organizational contacts;
  • Centralizing communications and contacts into Salesforce (database);
  • Creating communications and conducting outreach to potential program participants and connectors;
  • Running analytics on key data points;
  • Assisting with social media research and outreach;
  • Providing support on Service Corps placement organization recruitment and management as needed.

Location: This is a remote role. If the intern is located in an area where we have staff or an office (NY, DC, Chicago, New Orleans) there may be opportunities (depending on COVID protocols) to work in person with other staff or attend programming in person.

What we offer interns:

  • Dedicated supervision;
  • Opportunities to attend team and staff meetings;
  • Informational interviews with our staff members;
  • Opportunities to join our participants for learning;
  • A strong organizational culture and supportive team;
  • Commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that enables everyone to bring their full self to work and make a positive impact on the world; and
  • Being part of a passionate team of people who are devoted to Avodah’s mission.
