Teacher Assistant-Substitute Early Learning Center

Meeting Street, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services to children and families in Rhode Island and Massachusetts, is seeking a motivated team player to serve as a Teacher Assistant Substitute in the Early Learning Center. As the Teacher Assistant Substitute in the Early Learning Center you will provide support to the Teacher in carrying out daily activities, supervision, hygiene, classroom cleanliness, feeding, personal care, implementing curriculum and assessment of children in the toddler classroom. You will provide individual and group support to children with and without IEP needs, making adjustments and accommodations so that all children can learn and grow in a truly inclusive environment. You will facilitate interactions to create opportunities for social/emotional growth, and opportunities to develop individual age-appropriate self-help skills. You will implement age-appropriate classroom behavior management by demonstrating positive guidance, giving sensory breaks and input along with redirection, and modeling conflict resolution. You will communicate with families daily regarding their child’s activities and progress verbally at drop-off and pick-up, throughout the day using the Brightwheel app, and by zoom, email and phone to enhance the parent/school partnership.

Substitute positions are called to work on an as-needed basis to cover absences of regular staff or to support additional staffing needs.

Requirements
The position requires that you have a current CDA (Child Development Associate) Credential or 12+ College credits earned in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, or Early Childhood Special Education. COVID-19 vaccination is required.
