Senior/Principal Scientific Researcher (Cell-based Assay Development), BioAnalytical Sciences Department, Genentech

The Position 
In the BioAnalytical Sciences (BAS) Department at Genentech, we are a world-class bioanalytical center of excellence for novel strategies, technologies, and methods that enable the development of life-changing medicines. We seek a highly motivated and talented Senior/Principal Scientific Researcher to join the predictive sciences group. The candidate will contribute to the development of innovative cell-based assays using biochemical and cell biology techniques and cutting edge technologies such as high content imaging. The candidate will be expected to independently design, execute and analyze experiments, and interact and communicate with other groups as part of a diverse multidisciplinary team. This is a hands-on laboratory position in a fast-paced environment, with participation in cross-department collaborations towards advancing Genentech’s drug discovery and development.

Responsibilities: 
• Develop new and improve existing cell-based assays to support drug candidate selection for desirable pharmacokinetics (PK) properties.
• Design, conduct and interpret experiments to characterize cellular metabolism parameters and develop novel assays to predict clinical outcomes of large molecule therapeutics.
• Evaluate, investigate and innovate with novel technologies in molecular biology and cell biology.
• As a Senior/Principal Scientific Researcher, you are expected to work both independently and collaboratively at the bench and contribute to scientific discussions.

 
Who You Are: 
• A BS/MS in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology or a related discipline with a minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in cell culture and assay development in industry and/or academic setting (MS preferred).This position can be at senior/principal level based on hiring committee approval.
• Strong experience and expertise in cell-based assay development are musts.
• Proven expertise in cell culture, immunoassays and flow cytometry is required.
• Experience working with high content imaging systems, image processing and analysis are highly preferred.
• Ability to manage multiple projects in parallel and work with multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent oral and written communication and creative problem-solving skills
