A Bucket For The Well, LLC - Grant Writing Intern

A Bucket For The Well, LLC, is a multidisciplinary creative health + healing collaborative offering trauma-informed care and culturally affirming creative wellness services to BIPOC communities and birthing families of color across their perinatal, birthing and postpartum journey in the Greater Boston area. We believe in the body being the root to self-healing and are committed to the empowerment and liberation of one’s creative self as a core therapeutic bucket within one’s WELL:ness practice. 

GRANT WRITING INTERN
As the Grant Writing Intern for A Bucket For The Well, LLC,, your primary responsibility will be to assist with the identification of appropriate grantors, the creation of a foundation roster, and the execution and timely submission of grant requests, and/or letters of intent (LOI’s). A Bucket For The Well, LLC is a newcomer to the grant-writing process. In order to solidly launch this initiative, we are seeking interns capable of researching funding opportunities with fixed guidelines, initiating and maintain contact with foundations and writing grants for eligible funding. This will require an intern with strong research, writing and analytical skills and experience in acquiring funding related to the fields of creative arts, community mental health, perinatal psychotherapy, early childhood mental health, BIPOC mental health, racial equity and holistic wellness,

In addition to the qualifications for the position (listed below) interns are expected to have an emerging commitment and openness to a creatively-oriented company environment, creative arts, holistic wellness, social justice, perinatal mental health advocacy, and, an awareness of intersectional social equity issues, and have a passion for serving marginalized communities.

This 10-month, 15-20 hour/week position will begin Summer 2022 and end May 2023. This internship position is ideal for a undergraduate or graduate level Public Relations, Visual Arts Media, Public Health, Development and Communications, or Marketing major student. Interns will:
  • Gain an opportunity to work with seasoned community mental health and socially-engaged creative professionals.
  • Gain insight into and awareness of socio-cultural issues related to BIPOC perinatal birthing families. 
  • Gain an in depth look at not-for-profit sector. 
  • Gain a “Hands-on” environment with individuals who respond to critical community mental health issues. 
  • Develop above-entry-level skills.
  • Engage in weekly Group Creative Wellness consultation with supportive peers along with weekly Individual Supervision with the Executive Director.

QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required:
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor and/or Graduate level degree program.
  • 1-3 years related work experience required. 
  • Experience in proposal or grant writing preferred. 
  • Excellent writing, verbal, proof reading, editing, phone and organizational skills. 
  • Strong time-management and research capabilities.
  • Flexible team player, self-motivated and detail oriented with strong interpersonal skills, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to prioritize and work well under deadlines. 
  • Computer aptitude including strong experience with Microsoft Offices (i.e. Word, Excel). 
  • Salesforce experience a plus (but not required). 
  • Experience working with racial/ethnically diverse communities 
  • Ability to make decisions that are guided by general instructions and practices requiring some interpretation
  • Ability to interact respectfully with other employees, professional staff and/or external contacts to offer ideas, identify issues, obtain information or deliver services
  • Knowledgeable about community mental health and creative wellness.
  • Accept, understand and integrate intersectional equity and inclusion in your creative collaborations as it pertains to cultural diversity within the creative wellness and perinatal mental health.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and upholds an intermediate/advanced familiarity with computers.
  • Ability to travel within the Greater Boston Area.
  • Language/Bilingual capacity (Haitian Creole, Spanish, Cape Verdean Creole, etc.) a plus but not required. 

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prospect identification, research, proposal development and writing. Accurate and timely production of final proposals. 
  • Electronically tracking and documenting communications. 
  • Updating and maintaining A Bucket For The Well, LLC’s grant and funding database (Salesforce). 
  • Researching potential funding prospects. 
  • Funding outreach and cultivation through local community funding agencies.
  • Work under the general supervision of the Executive Director
  • Work collaboratively with A Bucket For The Well, LLC staff, co-interns and community members.
  • Comfortability with requirement that interns must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds where applicable during on-site creative wellness projects and/or events.
  • Other duties and special projects as needed.
