Cloud Engineering Intern (Summer 2022)

Job Description Summary:
The Cloud Engineering Intern will work on AWS Cloud infrastructure and automation projects. This work gives the intern a great opportunity to get real experience with AWS Cloud infrastructure provisioning using tools like Terraform and also gives them exposure to building infrastructure and security guardrails using Python, Cloud Custodian and many such popular tools. Senior cloud engineers in the team will provide interns with valuable guidance and mentorship throughout the program. By attending daily standups and other meetings, interns will gain valuable experience about how engineering teams function in large organizations.

Interns also get the opportunity to interact with various delivery teams as part of the infrastructure provisioning for their applications. By working closely with DevOps team, interns will be able to learn CI/CD best practices as well. Cloud FinOps (Financial Operations) is another area interns will get exposure to as part of this role. Keeping cloud costs under control is essential for any organization and TA Workplace cloud engineering has built a suite of solutions to make this happen. Interns will be provided with opportunities to understand the design and implementation details behind these FinOps initiatives. Cloud security is another area interns will be involved in; this role provides an excellent setting for the interns to learn Cloud security in depth.

Qualifications:
  • Strong passion for learning cloud technologies
  • Willingness to take initiative and put in effort to learn skills in new areas
  • In pursuit of BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a similar program
  • Excellent working knowledge of Python or Java
  • Familiarity with Linux shell scripting/PowerShell Scripting in Windows
  • AWS Certification preferred
  • Some exposure to Container Technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS EKS)
  • Decent technical writing skills
  • Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship

Rewards & Compensation:

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $17.00-$20.00 an hour for undergraduates and up to $25 an hour for graduate students. This range is an estimate, based on preexisting standards, operational needs and other considerations permitted by law. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2.
