Web Applications Engineer Volunteer Internship

The internship is virtual so you can work from home. The hours are flexible. There is a required weekly online team meeting with your supervisor, the CEO. The internship provides hands-on coaching, mentoring, and training experiences that will help get you noticed by prospective employers. TCR tries to align the specific internship activities/projects with the needs and interest of each intern. Position Overview
The Web Applications Engineer Intern will help design and implement web pages to increase awareness of TCR’s products and services, and the activities of its Center for Advanced Research in Emerging Technologies (CARET). This may involve designing website layouts, documenting required website features and functions, creating and implementing test plans, and writing code to implement front-end and back-end functionality. Interns will work under the guidance and mentoring of the CEO and the Vice-President of Engineering. Projects may involve all phases of the System Development Lifecyle (SDLC), including requirements specification, development, design, code reviews, and testing and documentation. You will have the opportunity to learn about WordPress, database design, and use of SQL-based database technologies. The intern must participate in weekly team meetings. This involves making a presentation showing recent accomplishments and planned future activities, and obtaining guidance from the intern supervisors and team members. 

Qualifications
Current students or recent alumni from undergraduate or graduate degree programs in one or more of these fields: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Applications, and Web Development
• Experience with Linux/Apache/MYSQL/PHP is highly desirable. Familiarity with the following is highly desirable: Content Management Systems (especially WordPress), HTML, PHP, JavaScript, Dreamweaver and other design tools such as Photoshop.
• Experience in designing and implementing front-end website is highly desirable.
• Experience with computer algorithms and statistics, e-commerce and SEO implementation, and/or computer game design is highly desirable.
