Garden Home Recreation Center is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our Summer Youth Cooking Camps. We are hiring for the following positions:
- Camp Director
- Assistant Director
- Camp Leader
In these roles, you’ll help design and lead engaging cooking activities for youth ages 5–14 while fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment. Our camps serve a diverse community of participants with a wide range of abilities, backgrounds, and interests.

Summer Camp Cooking Staff Positions (Seasonal & Part-time)
Pay Rate Range: $23.32 - $24.79 hourly
- Leads the summer camp's culinary program, managing, and coordinating all aspects of cooking camps, including following safe food handling practices.
- Develops and implements assigned recreation programs.
- Works independently within established guidelines to coordinate, supervise, and instruct day-to-day activities.
- Provides lead direction to assigned part-time staff and volunteers.
- This position may require applicants to complete driver training and drive district vehicles.
The hiring range for this position is $23.32 to $24.79 per hour, based on experience and internal equity. The full hourly range for this job classification is $23.32 to $26.29. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
Cooking Camp Assistant Director
Pay Rate: $22.21 hourly
- Assists with development and implementation of assigned recreation programs, classes, or activities.
- Follows and demonstrates safe food handling practices.
- Works independently within established guidelines to coordinate, supervise, and instruct day-to-day activities.
- Provides lead direction to assigned part-time staff and/or volunteers.
- Focuses on one program area and/or provides support to Camp Directors.
- This position may require applicants to complete driver training and drive district vehicles.
The hiring rate for this position is $22.21. The full hourly range for this job classification is $22.21 to $25.04. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
Pay Rate Range: $18.27 - $19.42 hourly
- Assist with planning and instructing general and/or specialized activities for program participants.
- Activities include, but are not limited to:
- Cooking camp group games & activities
- Cooking activities, set up, and clean-up of program areas.
- Facilitating guided group activities
The hiring range for this position is $18.27 to $19.42, based on experience and internal equity. The full hourly range for this job classification is $18.27 to $20.60. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.

Qualifications
- Interest in cooking, food education, or culinary arts
- Experience working with children (camp, classroom, or similar setting preferred)
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to manage group dynamics and support individual needs
- Reliable, patient, and enthusiastic
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous camp leadership or teaching experience
- CPR/FA/AED Certification
- Food safety knowledge or certification (e.g., Food Handler’s Card)
Work Schedule
- Summer Camp Dates: June 15 – August 14, 2026
- Typical Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.; holidays off
- Director/Assistant Director Training: Saturday, May 16, 2026
- All Staff & Summer Camp Training (GHRC): Friday, June 12 (evening) and Saturday, June 13 (all day), 2026
- Part-Time Variable Employment: typically under 1,560 hours per year
- Seasonal Employment: Up to 40 hours per week for a maximum of 6 consecutive months, with a required 13-week break before rehire eligibility
