Quality Engineering Intern- Aerospace & Defense Manufacturing

AMETEK Aerospace & Defense is is looking for highly talented Quality Engineering Interns and Co-Ops!  These students will help develop comprehensive inspection templates for all products, including purchased items requiring receiving inspection and in-house manufactured products.

Goals:

  • Standardize inspection processes.
  • Ensure consistent quality checks.
  • Improve efficiency and accuracy in inspections.

 

During your time with AMETEK, you will work with our quality engineering team to:

  1. Planning
    • Define Requirements: Identify all products requiring inspection templates.
    • Stakeholder Consultation: Meet with key stakeholders (e.g., quality managers, production supervisors) to gather input on inspection criteria.
    • Project Timeline: Develop a timeline with milestones and deadlines.
  2. Research and Analysis
    • Current State Analysis: Review existing inspection templates and processes.
    • Benchmarking: Research industry standards and best practices for inspection templates.
    • Gap Analysis: Identify gaps between current practices and desired standards.
  3. Design
    • Template Development: Create draft templates for receiving inspection and in-house manufactured products.
    • Review and Feedback: Present draft templates to stakeholders for feedback and revisions.
  4. Implementation
    • Pilot Testing: Implement the templates on a small scale to test their effectiveness.
    • Training: Train relevant staff on using the new inspection templates.
    • Full Rollout: Implement the templates across all relevant areas.
  5. Monitoring and Control
    • Quality Checks: Regularly review the use of templates to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
    • Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments based on feedback and performance data.
  6. Closure
    • Final Review: Conduct a final review meeting to assess project outcomes.
    • Documentation: Ensure all templates and related documentation are finalized and stored appropriately.
    • Project Report: Prepare a project report summarizing the work done, outcomes, and lessons learned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a technical degreed college program and Junior/Senior in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality
  • Fast learning capability of avionics
  • Strong decision making, judgment and analytical ability.
  • Good interpersonal skills, written and oral communication skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to generate reports using software programs like Word or Excel.
  • This position requires successful completion of a background check and drug screening prior to employment
  • Due to the nature of certain government and defense contracts, U.S. citizenship is required to fully perform the duties of this role
