Community Arts Education Intern – Winter/Spring 2026
Dates: February – May 2026
Stipend: $500 (to support travel)
Overview:
The Community Arts Education Intern will support the teen/youth ensemble production of THE OUTSIDERS, directed by Simone Daniel, in partnership with Youth Arts Coalition (YAC), and assist in the development and delivery of other Scranton Fringe community-wide educational programs. This role combines education, administrative support, and public arts engagement, providing hands-on experience in youth theater, arts administration, and community arts programming. Interns will gain professional experience working with two mission-focused arts organizations, connecting with staff, teaching artists, and local arts communities.
Key Deliverables:
Assist teaching artists and the director with THE OUTSIDERS rehearsals, scene work, and youth engagement.
Provide administrative support for the ensemble production, including scheduling, communication with students and families, attendance tracking, and logistics.
Help develop and implement other Scranton Fringe educational programs, workshops, and community initiatives.
Support registration and logistics for youth programs.
Collect feedback and support the evaluation of educational initiatives for continuous improvement.
Represent Scranton Fringe and YAC professionally in community and public-facing educational settings.
Schedule:
Flexible weekly schedule, tailored to academic and personal commitments. Work is a combination of on-site work (Scranton, PA) and virtual/remote.
Mandatory production dates for THE OUTSIDERS: April 12–18, 2026.
Other key dates for workshops, rehearsals, and events to be determined in coordination with supervisors.
Candidate Profile:
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with teaching artists, students, families, and staff.
Comfortable working with children and teens in rehearsal, classroom, and public settings (mandatory background checks will be conducted – all related expenses covered).
Prior theater, classroom, or arts education experience (visual, performance, etc) preferred but not required.
