Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled WordPress Developer with strong proficiency in PHP and modern JavaScript frameworks, particularly Next.js, to join our development team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining WordPress websites, custom themes, plugins, and API integrations, while also contributing to front-end and full-stack applications built with Next.js.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in both traditional PHP-based CMS environments and modern JavaScript-driven ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities
WordPress Development
Develop, maintain, and optimize custom WordPress themes and plugins from scratch.
Configure and extend WordPress using custom post types (CPTs), ACF, taxonomies, hooks, and filters.
Ensure WordPress websites are secure, scalable, and follow modern coding practices.
Integrate third-party APIs and services into WordPress.
Optimize WordPress performance (caching, queries, images, Core Web Vitals).
Manage and troubleshoot issues related to hosting, WordPress core, plugins, and server configurations.
PHP Development
Write clean, reusable, and well-documented PHP code.
Develop backend logic for WordPress and standalone PHP applications.
Work with MySQL databases for creating, optimizing, and managing queries.
Debug and resolve server-side performance bottlenecks and errors.
Next.js / JavaScript Development
Build high-performance web applications and landing pages using Next.js.
Implement SSR, SSG, and dynamic routing within Next.js.
Integrate REST APIs and GraphQL endpoints into Next.js front-end applications.
Collaborate with designers to transform UI/UX wireframes into responsive, interactive experiences.
Participate in architectural decisions for JavaScript applications, including data flow and state management.
General Duties
Collaborate closely with designers, project managers, and other developers in an Agile environment.
Participate in code reviews and ensure code quality, security, and performance.
Stay updated on emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in PHP, WordPress, and JavaScript.
Provide technical documentation and support for deployed systems.
Required Skills & Qualifications
3–5+ years experience in WordPress development.
Strong proficiency in PHP, including OOP and MVC principles.
Extensive experience with custom WordPress plugin and theme development.
Solid understanding of Next.js, React, and modern JavaScript (ES6+).
Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, Tailwind / Bootstrap, and responsive design.
Experience with REST APIs, GraphQL, and JSON data handling.
Familiarity with Git version control and collaborative workflows.
Experience with hosting environments (cPanel, Plesk, VPS, headless CMS setups).
Knowledge of performance optimization and SEO best practices.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
Experience with Headless WordPress (e.g., WordPress as a CMS + Next.js frontend).
Understanding of CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
Familiarity with WooCommerce and eCommerce development.
Knowledge of Docker or containerized environments.
Experience integrating payment gateways or third-party APIs.
