The Aldrich Mansion, a subsidiary of the Catholic Diocese of Providence, overlooks the stunning Narragansett Bay coastline. This seventy-room French chateau showcases a remarkable blend of European artistry and craftsmanship, reflecting the elegance of a bygone era. Located just north of Newport, Rhode Island, and set on seventy acres, the Aldrich Mansion offers a private, stately, and picturesque setting for weddings, social gatherings, private parties, and corporate events.

We are seeking a highly skilled Sous Chef to serve as second-in-command in our kitchen, supporting and executing the Executive Chef’s vision and standards. The ideal candidate will bring both culinary expertise and strong leadership skills, playing a key role in upholding and elevating our guests’ dining experience.

Responsibilities
Produce high quality plates both in design and taste
Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
Help in the preparation and design of all food menus
Discussing sales contracts and menu details with the Banquet Sales Department and the Head Chef.
Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedules, and assess staff’s performance
Order supplies to stock inventory appropriately
Comply with and enforce sanitation regulations and safety standards
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers
Requirements
Proven 5 – 10 years' experience as a Sous Chef in the Banquet Industry
Understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures
Excellent record of kitchen and staff management with the ability to lead and motivate kitchen staff and foster a positive and productive work environment. Using accuracy and speed in handling emergency situations and providing solutions
Excellent verbal communication skills to effectively coordinate with kitchen staff and front-of-house teams.
Working knowledge of various computer software programs (MS Office, restaurant management software, POS)
Preferred
BS Degree in Culinary Arts or related certificate
Catholic is good standing with the church
