Accounting Intern

Internship Opportunity

West & Company, LLC is a mid-size CPA firm with six offices throughout Central Illinois – Champaign, Mattoon, Sullivan, Effingham, Greenville and Edwardsville.  We provide personalized accounting, tax, and advisory services to individuals, small businesses, and nonprofits in our community. Our size allows interns to gain hands-on experience across multiple areas of public accounting and work directly with experienced CPAs and partners.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a junior or senior pursuing a Bachelor’s or an individual pursuing a Master’s degree in Accounting. This internship offers an excellent opportunity to apply classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, gain exposure to all aspects of public accounting, and develop the skills needed for a successful accounting career.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns
• Support accountants in bookkeeping and financial statement preparation
• Perform account reconciliations and data entry using accounting software (QuickBooks, Excel, etc.)
• Help with audit or review engagements, including organizing and testing client records

Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Familiarity with QuickBooks or similar accounting software preferred
• Good communication skills and a professional attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
