Landscape Designer

Firm Description – Landscape Architect Designer

JWLA is a landscape architecture design firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our current work includes residential, commercial and rural/agrarian projects, with project sites ranging throughout California and Hawaii. JWLA is built off a passion for the outdoors, focused on a love for plants and a deep appreciation for design. We strive to create a sense of place, and believe in creating enduring landscapes through our distinct designs and by utilizing quality materials and responsible plantings.  We believe in an eagerness to learn, maintaining a high-level design excellence, and in cultivating a culture of trust and collaboration.

We are looking for creative individuals who are eager to grow and assume responsibilities, support and engage in all aspects of project work, and are looking to continue to develop through mentorship and a hands-on approach.

This position is Full Time, 40 hours a week, and must have the ability to work remotely from home.

 Primary Responsibilities

  • Support the team in development of the design and detailing
  • Produce material and design presentation graphics and renderings for client, and agency presentations.
  • Develop base plans and help compose all aspects of the design and construction process, including but not limited to Schematic Design and Design Development drawings, and Construction documents.
  • Communicate and coordinate with other project team members, clients, consultants, contractors and agency officials.
  • Attend job site meetings, and online/remote meetings.

Qualifications

  • Accredited degree in Landscape Architecture or Architecture
  • 2+ years of work experience, preferably including design and detailing experience on high-end custom residential projects
  • Strong design and graphics skills, with the ability to verbally and graphically communicate thoughts and ideas
  • Basic understanding of building and construction techniques
  • Well versed in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, and visualization software such as Twinmotion,  Lumion, and the Adobe CC Suite.
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.

Compensation and Benefits

For 2025, the hiring base annual salary range for this position is $65,000 – $95,000. Any offer of compensation will be determined by a candidate’s education, skills, and experience as assessed during the interview process.
