2026 Program Information
Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light’s internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.
- Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
- Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH’s Hybrid Work Model (described below).
- Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
- Candidates must have at least one semester remaining after completion of the internship/must not have graduated prior to the internship starting.
- Candidates must be in good academic standing.
- Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
- Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricular activities.
- Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assist NERC (North American Electrical Reliability Corporation) Compliance team in Office of General Counsel, with NERC Reliability Standard (CIP and 693) compliance activities.
• Review and package evidence associated with potential violations, mitigation actions and update tracking databases/spreadsheets.
• Review compliance documentation for accuracy, potential improvements, and any needed changes.
• Enter and update information in the DLC NERC Compliance Management System and complete documentation of internal controls.
Education/Experience:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS program with a major in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or Network Engineering.
Skills/Abilities:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.
Hybrid Work:
All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
