Position Summary
Plato+ is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Teacher's Aide to support two of our after-school programs at our partner institution, The Carey School in San Mateo. This is a part-time, temporary position for our Fall 2025 session, beginning the first week of September.
This role is perfect for someone who loves working with children and is looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity. As a Teacher's Aide, you will be a crucial part of our team, helping our lead instructors create a fun, safe, and engaging environment for students in our Singing and Design classes. Your primary role is to assist the lead teachers, supervise students, and ensure both classes run smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Assist the lead teachers with classroom setup, activity preparation, and cleanup for both the singing and art classes.
- Supervise students, ensuring their safety and engagement during class activities.
- Help manage the classroom by redirecting students and encouraging positive behavior.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to students as directed by the lead teachers.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all children.
- Act as a secondary on-site representative for Plato+, maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor with school staff, students, and parents.
Schedule
- Work Location: The Carey School, San Mateo, CA
- Days & Times:
- Wednesdays (Singing): 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
- Thursdays (Design): 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM
- Class Structure: On both days, the first hour (3:30–4:30 PM) is for students in grades K–2, and the second hour (4:30–5:30 PM) is for students in grades 3–5.
- Duration: This is a 10-week program, starting the first week of September 2025.
Qualifications
- Experience: Experience working with elementary-aged children (K-5) in a structured setting (e.g., camp counselor, after-school care, paraprofessional, babysitting) is required.
- Attributes: Must be punctual, reliable, and professional. A positive, patient, and energetic attitude is essential.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to take direction and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- A Plus: An interest in music, singing, art, or design is a plus, but not required.
- Requirement: Must be able to pass a mandatory background check.
