Senior Data Analyst - Equity Research

Want to use data to drive social change?
At WGU, our mission is personal. We serve over 190,000 students across the U.S., and every number tells a story—of persistence, barriers, breakthroughs, and transformation. As a Senior Data Analyst on our Equity Research team, you won’t just crunch numbers—you’ll help us identify the systemic challenges students face and uncover the policies and programs that remove them.

Why join us?

You’ll work on research that matters—equity gaps, student belonging, financial hardship, and outcomes across race, income, geography, and more.

You’ll be embedded in a highly respected, mission-driven university known for its innovation in online learning and student support.

You’ll have visibility and influence: our team’s work shapes WGU’s internal strategy and external impact with funders and partners.

You’ll be surrounded by values-driven peers—analysts, researchers, and storytellers—who bring rigor, heart, and purpose to every project.

What you’ll do:

Lead equity-focused analyses using SQL and Tableau to uncover disparities in student outcomes.

Translate findings into actionable recommendations for teams like Financial Aid, Academic Programs, and Learning Analytics.

Build dashboards that track institutional progress on equity metrics.

Present insights to diverse audiences—from senior leadership to philanthropic partners.

Help guide junior team members and contribute to a collaborative, inquiry-driven culture.

What you bring:

5+ years of experience in data analysis, institutional research, or education-focused analytics.

A sharp lens for identifying systemic barriers and a commitment to justice in higher education.

Advanced proficiency in SQL and Tableau.

Strong communication skills—you can turn complex data into stories that move people to act.

A bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Sociology, Education, Public Policy, or related field.

Bonus points if you have:

Experience analyzing survey or belonging data.

Familiarity with qualitative or mixed-methods approaches.

Exposure to nonprofits, philanthropy, or mission-driven institutions.

Skills in Python or R.

Work Location:

  • This is a full-time, in-office position at WGU’s headquarters in Salt Lake City, UT. You’ll work side-by-side with a multidisciplinary team of analysts, researchers, and educators committed to data-informed innovation.
